Sebastian Marchevsky, MD, DABFM, FMCP-M

Dr. Sebastian Marchevsky is the founder and Medical Director of Sanustan, a board-certified Family Medicine physician trained in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Tufts University and earned his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean. After training within the NHS in England and across the United States, he settled on the central coast of California, completing specialty training at the UCSF-affiliated Natividad Medical Center Family Medicine Residency in Salinas. He has since practiced at nonprofit federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, largely serving immigrant communities. He is a native Spanish and English speaker, and conversational in French.
Long before formal medical training, Dr. Marchevsky was drawn to the meeting place of Eastern and Western healing traditions, and to the connection between body, energy, and mind. That curiosity led him to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and Qi Gong, to yoga and meditation within lineages of Tibetan Buddhism, and to pursue certifications in Tibetan Medicine and Kunye massage with the Shang Shung Institute of Tibetan Medicine. He draws on aspects of Natural Hygiene and since certifying with the IFM, the systems-based lens of Functional Medicine. These are modalities he holds alongside one another rather than in competition, each a different vantage point on the same living whole.
At Sanustan, Dr. Marchevsky offers private consultations and leads the clinical vision, gathering practitioners across modalities so that every dimension of a person is met with equal attention and care. His consultations make room for a thorough exploration of a life: someone's history, the conditions they live and work within, and the patterns that shaped how they arrived at this moment. From there the work is to clear all that obstructs the body's equilibrium and to optimize one's conditions, so that vitality has somewhere to take hold long before illness has reason to arrive. Healing, in his view, is never administered; it is something a person is accompanied toward, patiently and without judgment, guided into true health, potentiality, and awareness.
